Orizaba, México

Orizaba México

The town lies in a valley surrounded by mountains that belong to the Sierra Madre Oriental, among which is the peak of Orizaba, or Citlaltépetl (Hill of the Star), a currently dormant volcano. Orizaba has a temperate, humid climate throughout the year. Tourism here has long been supported by its pleasant weather and its comfortable, welcoming atmosphere, as well as the opportunity to enjoy the rich history and natural beauty of nearby towns such as Ixtaczoquitlán and Nogales. The city has significant architectural wealth, visible in numerous buildings constructed largely in the eighteenth century. Most are religious in nature, but there are also important civil buildings. The churches of Orizaba preserve a variety of architectural styles, including Baroque, Neoclassical, Churrigueresque, and Romantic.
